    I am a lucky doctor. I have never seen a case of tetanus, polio, diphtheria or rubella. I have seen a couple of cases of measles, treated a few cases of mumps and still see the occasional case of chicken pox. When I first became a pediatrician—or kid doctor—in 1981, I would do several spinal taps a month on children to rule out meningitis, which is an infection of the brain and spinal cord. These ...
